DeepWater has been launched in 2017, offering artists – both emerging and established – unique opportunities for exchanges of knowledge with peers, for mentoring, and for inclusion in the network of contemporary performance makers involved with Doppelgangster productions.
With an international scope, and a remit to respond to urgent social issues, the DeepWater program supports and fosters the work of professional artists at critical stages of development, offering a range of opportunities to help in the development of new work, career trajectories, and critical reflection. These opportunities and activities include an official mentoring program, skills workshops, peer-led projects, paid associate roles on Doppelgangster productions, and an open line of communication with Doppelgangster’s Directorate.

DeepWater: Mentoring aims to ignite and challenge the next generation of experimental performance makers by providing access and insights into performance practice, mentoring from industry experts, critical analysis of ongoing work, and masterclasses.
In 2017 Doppelgangster are delighted to be holding the inaugural year of the scheme and the participants are:
DeepWater: Support Acts aims to make use of down time in performance space and support local artists by offering fully subsidised performance space to local experimental projects, when ever Doppelgangster are performing.
How does one apply?
We invite emerging artists and companies in locations we are performing in to apply to use the spaces we perform in when we are not. Do you have a work that you’d like to test? A new performance that needs some focussed development time? Applications are currently closed, but please keep an eye here for future announcements throughout the year, or if you see we’re coming to your part of the world, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
What does one get?
If successful, Doppelgangster will allocate you selected dates and times in our spaces where so ever we are! The time and space will be yours to do with as you see fit and a member of Doppelgangster team will always be available to offer support and trouble. You will also have access to our Green Room, and where possible – our audience!
What are Doppelgangster looking for?
Doppelgangster hope that access to the Support Acts scheme will generate powerful collaborations, introduce new work to new audiences, and challenge process and form. Doppelgangster are most interested in Support Acts creating work that resonates with what ever is troubling you, what ever is going to cause trouble. Doppelgangster prioritise work that that wants to say the unsayable, do the undoable, and think the unthinkable.
Maybe this means you or Doppelgangster want your work to programme in a Doppelgangster season, or maybe this is just the stop that your project needs in a fantastic trajectory of its own.
